If you require urgent dental or medical treatment outside our operating hours, please call 000 or visit the nearest hospital emergency department.

Portland District Health Urgent Care Centre (UCC) offers a 24-hour service for the Greater Glenelg Region. Call (03) 5521 0333 or visit at Bentinck Street, Portland VIC 3305.

If cancellation is necessary, we require you call the practice (during operating hours) at least 24 hours in advance. If you fail to attend your scheduled appointment without cancellation, you may incur a fee of $50 (not rebatable by Medicare). Your advance notice will allow another patient to access that appointment time.

Dentist
Dr Terry Chao graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Western Australia in 2015. He has since practiced in both non-profit and private clinics across regional areas, gaining valuable experience treating a broad range of dental conditions. Terry strives to provide quality dental care with understanding and kindness.

• Oral surgery 
• Preventive dentistry 

Terry enjoys exploring new places and new craft beers at the local breweries. 

Terry speaks English and Mandarin.

Dentist
Dr Ng completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Sydney in 1994. She has worked in public and private sectors in NSW and overseas in Malaysia before relocating to Victoria. With over 30 years of experience, Dr Ng enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a passion for oral health promotion and prevention of dental diseases. 

Areas of interest:

• Management of gum diseases  
• Root canal therapy 
• Crown and bridges 
• Full and partial dentures 
• Oral appliance therapy for sleep breathing disorders (snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea) 
• Management of dental anxiety 

Outside of work, Sook enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, cooking, bike riding and bush walking. 

Sook speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin. 

Dental Hygienist/Therapist
Narelle graduated with a Diploma of Applied Science (Dental Therapy) from the Dental Therapy School in Melbourne in 1991, followed by a Diploma of Oral Health Therapy from the University of Melbourne in 1999. Prior to joining GMHBA, Narelle was a Clinical Educator with Latrobe University Bendigo. She has more than 30 years of experience across a variety of places.

• Gum health improvement 
• Patient education in oral care 

When not at work, Narelle enjoys gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles and reading.

Oral Health Therapist
Rhiannon completed a Bachelor of Biological Sciences at La Trobe University in 2012 before furthering her studies with a Bachelor of Oral Health Science at La Trobe in 2018. With 7 years’ experience in general dentistry within private practice, she is passionate about oral health education. Rhiannon is a member of the Oral Health Association Australia and enjoys helping you feel at ease in the chair.

• Preventative dentistry
• Oral health education and instruction 

Outside work, Rhiannon enjoys walking her dog, coffee catch-ups, family time, loves travelling, camping and learning Spanish.
